Described by Pann as "for the muscular pianist," Fantasy-Inventions was commissioned through the University of Rochester for Pann's former piano teacher Barry Snyder. There is a transcendental quality about the outer movements March and The Wheel, which are like grand gallop-fantasies. The middle piece, Passpied, is shorter and lighter, as an intermezzo for relief between the behemoths.
