The noodlin' part of "Noodlin'" are the light Basie-like piano fills inserted among the equally Basie-like ensemble figures. Contrast between ensemble & piano is key to the suuccess of "Noodlin'." A great opportunity to work attention to articulations and dynamics within the tightly constructed "punch" ensemble figures against the quieter and lighter piano fills. Very cool!
