This setting of Solveig's Song from Act V of Ibsen's
Peer Gynt isa gentle lullaby in ABA form. It features a variety of choral textures, some alternation of meters and interplay between the mezzo-soprano solo ist and the rest of the choir. The middle section is characterized by increased divisi writing, contrapuntal imitation and some degree of modulation resulting in overall intensification.
