The first, “The Gathering Clouds,” portrays the militant moods and tensions of the period. “All Quiet Along the Potomac Tonight” is meditative in styleand includes several typical camp songs, many reflecting a soldier's lo neliness. The finale features “When Johnny Comes Marching Home.”
