A child prodigy, Peter Sculthorpe composed his first significant work when he was just 14. He was influenced by Mahler, Shoenberg, Delius, Aboriginal chant, and Shinto and was one of the first westerners to ever write for the Didgeridoo. Often highly evocative of the Australian landscape his music has been described as "intelligent and always gorgeous...imbued with warmth and gentleness" Three Pieces for Piano was composed in 1995 and includes Djilie, Calllaboma and Simori.
