M?lodie et Scherzetto was composed in 1904 as examination piece for the Paris Conservatoire. Subtle melodies, fierce imagination and drama nurtured by the composition of stage works make the work a varied work full of emotions which, even today, is perfect for music lessons and concerts.
This edition may contribute to making a good piece by a mostly forgotten composer known again. Arthur Coquard (1846?1910) studied law and music at the same time and was a composition pupil of C?sar Franck.
M?lodie et Scherzetto is part of the new Schott Student Edition series which provides varied teaching literature at five different levels of difficulty (easy to difficult) and contains practising tips and information by the editor Rudolf Mauz.
