The piece begins and ends with a folk melo dy that is used for both greeting and parting, Shalom Chaverim. Exotic harmonies and colors are explored using the melodies Zum Gali, Od Yishama, and Simon Tov giving the rhapsody an overall “zest for life” feeling inherent in this music.
